Course Tour

Brookmans Park at its full length of just under 6,500 yards provides a test that requires a variety of shots. The two large lakes in the centre of the course provide the focal point and some fantastic holes around their surrounds. During recent years a large number of new trees and reshaping of holes has helped the course to stand up to the challenge of modern equipment. As well as offering great golf, the woodland and lakes provide an attractive home for a wide range of wildlife.

The first nine offers lots of variety and the opportunity to build a score with three tempting par 5’s and three visually interesting par 3’s. However, with water coming into play on two of the par 5’s, 5th and 7th, these holes should not be underestimated and liberties taken. Additionally, the 1st, 2nd and 8th are all par 4’s that will challenge the best golfer with the 1st being probably the toughest starting hole in the county. As well as fantastic golf the front nine offers some spectacular views.

Following a break at the recently refurbished halfway hut we then head down the hill to the 10th green and first sight of the signature 11th. A 166 yard shot over the lake to a well-protected green. The 12th offers a different challenge with a long second shot up the hill to the green. The 13th and 14th do offer a better chance of a birdie but with trees and layered rough on each side, a wayward shot should be avoided.

After the final par 3, 15th, the course finishes with three very tough holes that will challenge any golfer’s ability. The 16th provides a memorable drive through an avenue with woods each side of the fairway. The 17th provides a tough tee shot with hazards to encounter on both sides all the way to the green and finally the 18th as picturesque and challenging as any finishing hole with its well protected green.

Walking off the 18th green the view can be admired one final time before reflecting on a round of fair but challenging golf in a fantastic environment.
