1st Hole - Round Wood
The hole name reflects the historic ancient woodland on the right of the hole that records show dates back to at least the 16th century.
A long opening hole often playing into a prevailing wind. The ideal drive needs to be kept to the right side of the fairway avoiding the bunker at 230 yards but not so far right as to be troubled by the expanse of ancient woodland. This leaves you a good sight of the green but heavy rough on either side of the fairway and a well bunkered green means that accuracy is vital with your approach shot.
